Welcome to the official "Hear the Heart" tour website! I am a four-time Hodgkin's Lymphoma cancer survivor, and have been living cancer free for the past 13 years.
The "Hear the Heart" tour is a project that is very close to me and one that I hope will allow me to visit as many cancer research centers, cancer patient lodges, hospitals, and universities as possible. Through the "Hear the Heart" tour I hope to raise awareness and funds for cancer treatment and recovery through the sharing of my story and music.
My personal motivation for "Hear the Heart" is to encourage and inspire cancer patients (and their families) to not only believe they can overcome cancer and go on to live normal and healthy lives, but to know that having cancer does not limit a person's ability to dream big and pursue their passions. If I can change the mind of only one person, or family through the "Hear the Heart" tour, I will have accomplished my goal. But, of course, I am hoping for a greater impact for the cancer community as a whole.
So, the objective of "Hear the Heart" is two-fold: When people walk away from one of my shows, I hope they leave with a sense of hope and optimism about their future, whether or not they are intimately familiar with cancer. For individuals or families currently living with cancer, my hope is that they find peace in seeing someone that has made it through 18 years of living with cancer and is currently living a very normal, cancer-free life.
Secondly, I hope my story ignites an interest in the general public to prioritize healthy living and be proactive about regular check-ups to the doctor, so if cancer is ever diagnosed, it's detected and treated early. I also hope that "Hear the Heart" inspires individuals to consider how they can use their own time and talents to help raise awareness and funds for cancer-related efforts in their own local communities.
